This time of year it is traditional to be thankful for what we have and to donate to those less fortunate. One of the most active charities in this regard is the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization against breast cancer.

Tiger Direct, one of the fastest growing retailers on-line, has put together a special program and named it Pink Friday which goes from what was traditionally Black Friday (the Friday after Thanksgiving) and runs until the end of the year. This program, which comes with built in donation by Tiger Direct to Susan G. Komen, makes it easy for individuals who are shopping with them to donate to this worthy cause (it will be easy to put in an extra $1, $5, $10, or $20 and you’ll still be getting a great deal and can deduct the extra you donate).

What makes this a deal is that on Friday Tiger Direct will have limited amounts of high value products on sale for 50% off, and the funds they receive for these items will go directly to Susan G. Komen. Obviously you can’t then deduct this as a donation but you can get an incredible deal and know that what you spent went to fight cancer. Granted you’ll be encouraged to donate more and many will choose to do so, but this effort combines great deals with what is clearly a philanthropic effort by Tiger Direct and the vendors who contributed the products.

Examples of incredible buys include:

HP 530 T2050 Notebooks for $350

Lenovo Y410 Notebooks for $500

Pink Sony VAIO laptops for $500

42” Toshiba LCD HDTVs for $500

Acer Laptops for under $300

HP Photosmart 8 Megapixel cameras for $60

AMD Phenom X4 9500 Processors for $140

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processors for $150

Nvidia XFX 8800 GT Extreme Graphics cards for $150

Diamond Radeon HD 3850 Graphics cards for $100

Pandigital Digital Frames 5.6” for $50

On top of this they have cases, motherboards, memory, CD drives, power supplies, printers, and the only thing that seems to be missing is hard drives to make a killer desktop rig for a few hundred bucks. In writing this I know where I’ll be spending my Friday morning, and my hope is all of you will choose to sleep in before I’m done.

In any case, Tiger Direct deserves our thanks for both bringing in a bunch of great deals and for making sure the fight against breast cancer gets a much needed financial boost. The event starts at 9 AM Eastern Time (that’s 6 AM for us on the West Coast) and you’ll need to watch the program on-line and call in to get your goodies. The numbers are generally under 6 for each item so they will go incredibly fast.
